Hello and Welcome
I'm excited to share this new space with you. Here, I'll be posting thoughts on art, the creative process, and the inspirations behind my work.
For those who don't know me, I'm Herbert Fillmore III, and I paint original oils influenced by the Post-Impressionist and Fauvist masters of the late 1800s to mid 1900s. Artists like Cezanne, Van Gogh, Matisse, and Diebenkorn have profoundly shaped how I see color, form, and light.
What to Expect
In future posts, I plan to share:
- Behind-the-scenes looks at works in progress - Thoughts on technique and the materials I use - Stories behind specific paintings and what inspired them - Reflections on the artists who continue to influence my work - Updates on exhibitions and availability
The Journey Continues
Art has been a lifelong pursuit, and each painting is both a destination and a starting point. The Post-Impressionists understood this - that capturing a scene isn't about replication, but about expressing something true about the experience of seeing.
I hope you'll join me on this journey. Feel free to reach out with questions, or follow along on Instagram for more frequent updates from the studio.
Thank you for being here.
